Eye Health America (EHA) is pleased to announce the addition of three new doctors to its member practices in Florida including Fayssal El Jabali, DO, Henry Bausback, OD, and JD Vandenberg, OD.
Fayssal El‑Jabali, DO
Board Certified Ophthalmologist
Fellowship Trained Medical & Surgical Retina Specialist
Dr. Fayssal El‑Jabali has joined Updegraff Laser Vision in Pinellas County, Florida and The Eye Associates in Manatee County. He is a Fellowship Trained Medical and Surgical Retina Specialist that is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. El-Jabali began his education with a bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. He then continued to Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL before doing his medical internship at St John’s Oakland Hospital in Madison Heights, Michigan. He did 2 residencies. One in General Surgery and another in Ophthalmology. It was then that he decided to continue on the Ophthalmology path, and do a Fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery at the Retinal Institute of Hawaii. Dr. El‑Jabali brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the practices, utilizing the most modern technology in both surgical and medical treatments of retinal disorders. He speaks English and Arabic fluently, and speaks conversational French and American Sign Language (ASL).
As an academic leader in the retinal community, Dr. El-Jabali has collaborated on advanced studies, including stem cell based retinal implants. His hope is that his research will contribute to discoveries of new treatment, and a possible cure and/or prevention of sight-threatening retinal eye diseases.
Henry Bausback, OD, FAAO
Board Certified and Residency Trained Optometric Physician
Dr. Henry Bausback has joined The Eye Associates in Manatee and Sarasota Counties in Florida. He is a Board Certified and Residency Trained Optometric Physician, and brings with him more than 25 years of experience in optometry. He specializes in comprehensive eye examinations, ocular diseases & contact lenses.
Dr. Bausback received his undergraduate degree in biology from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He then continued to Indiana University School of Optometry where he received his Doctorate of Optometry. In order to expand his skill level, he did a residency at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Maryland, helping our veterans with their visual needs.
Prior to receiving his own optometry degree, Dr. Bausback worked in an optical laboratory at his father’s private optometry office for several years, making glasses, cutting lenses, and assisting people with their eyewear. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, and the Manasota Optometric Society, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO).
JD Vandenberg, OD
Board Certified Optometric Physician
Dr. JD Vandenberg has joined The Eye Associates in Manatee County, Florida. He will be seeing patients in the offices located in East Bradenton and Ellenton.
Dr. Vandenberg received his Bachelor of Biological Sciences from Southern Illinois University and then went on to Nova Southeastern College of Optometry. While at Nova, he worked with a variety of patient types, including primary eyecare, pediatrics and traumatic brain injury patients. He then went on to Aker Kasten Eye Center and West Palm Beach VA Hospital where he expanded his medical eye training. Dr. Vandenberg also has an interest in giving back to the community. He has provided volunteer services to the Special Olympics, the Fellowship of Christian Optometrist Mission Trip to Belize and worked with the Broward County School District providing eye screenings for children.
